Suppose you are a Ruhi. You have a friend named Ruba. She knows that English is your favorite subject. Now write a dialogue between you and your friend starting her ways of developing communicative competence in English.

    Ruhi: Hi Ruba.

    Ruba: Hello dear.

Ruhi: Can you have some discussion on how to improve the communicative competence?

Ruba: Oh sure. I can help you a lot.

Ruhi: Thanks, but how can I develop my communicative competence?

Ruba: It is a practice, practice and practice. And you have to practice speaking, writing and listening as well.

Ruhi: That’s a good idea and I think you will help me to practice speaking.

Ruba: I’ll be happy to do that. What we can do is that every day we can talk at least 10 minutes over phone.

Ruhi: Sure, let us make a rule that whatever we talk we will talk in English.

Ruba: Ok, agreed and you have to practice other areas too.

Ruhi: So, how can I develop writing skill?

Ruba: You have to practice writing. A good way may be writing the composition by yourself.

    Ruhi: And the listening one?

Ruba: You can watch BBC, CNN and try to understand what they are telling about. You can also practice some lessons using cassettes and CDs.

Ruhi: Many thanks for your input. And we will start from today.

    Ruba: Yeah, of course. Bye.

    Ruhi: Bye.
