The 21st February has a very significant historical background. On this day in 1952, our great Language Movement took place. This day reminds us the struggle and sacrifice of the heroic sons of our nation. They sacrificed their lives with a view to establishing our mother tongue as a state language. They protected our mother tongue in exchange of their blood. This day has given us the freedom to speak in our mother tongue. Salam, Barkat, Rafique, Shafiq and many others were the heroes of this day. Their sacrifice and struggle have now got international recognition.

UNESCO has recognized the 21st February as the International Mother Language Day to honour their great sacrifice. People of the whole world observe this day as the international Mother Language Day. They show their heartfelt love and respect to the sacrifice of our language martyrs.
