Pollution in Dhaka

    Pollution means the contamination of the components of the environment which is harmful to our health and livelihood. Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, is one of the most polluted city in the world. This city is being polluted in many ways. Among them air pollution, water pollution, sound pollution and odour pollution are noteworthy.

    Air is polluted by smoke and fumes of vehicles and industries. Water is polluted by waste and filth of mills and factories. Vehicle horns and indiscriminate use of loud speakers cause sound pollution. Dumping of rubbish and untreated human waste cause serious odour pollution. In this way this city is being polluted day by day. Different kinds of pollution in Dhaka city cause various diseases and premature deaths to thousands of people. However, we should take measures to prevent pollution in Dhaka city. We should plant more trees and preserve those planted before.

    Government should take initiatives to stop pollution in Dhaka city and to save the people of this city. To prevent pollution, government as well as all the conscious citizens of the city should come forward to develop civic sense to reduce all kinds of pollution in Dhaka. We must remember "pollution and perish; preserve and flourish”.
