Beaten to Death of Two Snatchers
Sujon Ahmed, Dhaka, 07 April: Excited people here beat two snatchers to death as they were caught red-handed while snatching the necklace of a woman. It is learnt that the woman was going to market by a rickshaw and on her way to market two snatchers stopped the movement of the rickshaw and tried to snatch her necklace. Hearing the cry of the woman for help, the people of the adjacent areas rushed to the spot and caught the snatchers red handed.
The excited people beat the snatchers black and blue. As they were seriously injured, police took them to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where they died two hours later. The snatchers were identified as Kamal (30) and Sabu (28) both from Barisal. Police recovered some robbed money, two mobile sets, and three money bags by checking their bodies.
The incidents clearly show the worse and unsafe situation of the city's people. People also alleged that pick-pocketing and snatching has been on the rise in the city's busy areas for the last few weeks amidst the tight security. However, a case has been filed by police in this regard.
