Calamities in Bangladesh Various Natural

    Bangladesh is vulnerable to frequent natural disaster. Annual visitation of cyclones and flood are routine but nonetheless sudden and fatal in their rage. The early damages they leave behind are enormous. The poetic statement  that  we in Bangladesh live by fighting the tiger is certainly true if the allegory voters the gusty winds and swelling water as well.

    Our people, however, are accustomed to cyclone and floods, foe which the state and the people make seasonal preparation within their respective capacity.  But another creeping disaster is gathering in fury. For which the people are not prepared at all and the state appears to be talking on notice. It is the danger of rising sea level from global warming that could wipe away about one third of our land and spell disaster for the ecological balance of the entire country.

    Bangladesh already suffers a very adverse land man ratio. By the time, unless we manage to check population growth and reach a stable demographic level there would be serious leaving space problem for our people. If, on top of that, we lose our lands to sea rise, our existence as a nation would be imperilled. That is why, for four survival, we need to add a strong voice to international advocacy for emission and control of greenhouse gases that are causing global warming by damaging the Ozone layer.

    The former UN Secretary General Kofi Anan had made a fervent appeal urging the USA to join other nations in reducing emissions and conserving energy. Nevertheless; Kofi Anan warns that climate change may be the greatest has to heed to it as this country probably has much more to lose from environment disaster than any other country in the world.
