Sports And Games
    A sound mind is in a sound body. Exercise is necessary for good health. Hence sports and games play an important role in the development of human personality. Imam Ghzali says, ''Sports and games should be managed in our educational institutions for the better growth of physical and mental qualities of our youth. ''There is a well known proverb that All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. It means that a student should not become a book worm. Rather he should act upon the advice that works while work and play while play.''
    Sports and games are no less important than food grains fresh air and water. They are the part and parcel of education. Education is incomplete without them. The developed countries like England, Germany, France, USA, China and Japan have made games an essential part of education at school level. They have set up special training centers for this purpose.
    Although games and sports are becoming popular in Pakistani schools also yet the facilities are not enough at present. We have to do a lot to improve the situation. The students have to spend six hours in school daily. Their minds remain busy for a long time. Games and sports provide them relaxation. They leave mental work aside and do something physically. They run and jump in the playground during drill period and recess period. It keeps them healthy and fit. It is a great need of young scholars. Moreover, sports and games teach them the great qualities of discipline self control, fellow feeling, confidence, cheerfulness, sportsmanship and physical fitness.
    The favourite organized games in schools are football, volleyball, hockey, cricket, tennis, badminton and table tennis. A number of school clubs and societies hold athletic contests. They include walking, jogging, jumping, swimming, rowing, wresting, foxing, hammer or disc throwing, light weight lifting and gymnastics. General sports include hunting, fishing, riding, cycling, mountain, climbing, skating and owing.
