The fair verdict

A brief introduction to a story about three tortoises that gad gone for a picnic near a pond. When they got there the tortoises put down the basket of food they had brought at the shore, and went inside the pond to enjoy a bath.

When they returned, they found a fox eating their food. On being asked, the fox replied, "Anything lying on the ground is public property.

Then the fox went to take a nap. While he was asleep, the tortoises came and cut off his tail.

One tortoise replied, "Your tail was lying on the ground. It was public property. So we cut it off."

This way the fox was taught a lesson.
