    Reasons for student’s failure in English

    This report is on the basis of countrywide survey about the causes of failure in English public examination. English is the language of the English. But it is no longer the language of the English people alone. It has become the language of the world people. It is now the most influential international language. English has become the second language of the country. We require knowing the language for many reasons. For this, our government emphasizes on English in textual curriculum from class I. It is a compulsory subject from class I to Honours level.

    But it is a matter of regret that every year in public examinations a huge number of students fail in English. Our country/ In Bangladesh, students fail in English for many reasons. Firstly, they are not motivated to learn this foreign language. Secondly, the textbooks are unsuitable and teaching method is difficult. Thirdly, the quota system is faulty. Besides, we often learn English without understanding. We never use English in our practical life. In reality, we are afraid of practicing English while communicating with others. Another important matter is that our vocabulary knowledge is very poor.

    To overcome this problem we should put emphasis on learning English. We must follow the communicating method of learning English. They are listening, speaking, reading and writing. We can listen to and watch English programmers on radio and television respectively. In the classroom we can speak in English. Above all, we should also read our English lesions regularly and practice freehand writing on any topic.
