Taking Bribery by a Government Official
Sujon Ahmed, Dhaka, 05 April: A government employee of customs and excise was held from Segunbagicha office while taking bribery from a businessman. Receiving information about taking bribery from service-seekers RAB forces set a trap to catch the corrupt official with evidences.
Yesterday RAB forces entered the Customs and VAT Excise Office at Segubagicha at about 11 am and caught Mr. Rafiqul Alam, a Custom Inspector, red handed with bribed money taka two lakh. Sensing the presence of RAB officials in office, he tried to hide the money in his drawer.
However, Rafiqul denied the charge and said that he took the money as loan. Subsequently, Rafiqul was handed over to police for further investigation. A case was filed in this connection with the local police station.
