There lived an old King named in Lear in England. He had three daughters, Regan Goneril and Cordelia. Once he decided to divide his kingdom among three daughters.............

    TITLE: King Lear, a Tragic Hero

    There lived an old King named in Lear in England. He had three daughters, Regan Goneril and Cordelia. Once he decided to divide his kingdom among three daughters. Rather childishly he proposes to divide his kingdom in proportion of love made by his daughters. The two elder daughters, Goneril and Regan enthusiastically show their love, much to the satisfaction of the old and vain king. The youngest daughter Cordelia is loved most by king Lear. She is sincere, honest and lacks the hypocrisy of her elder sisters. She displays her love simply and sincerely which is misunderstood by the arrogant king. In his foolishness the king divides his kingdom into two shares and allotted to Regan and Goneril, and decides to live with each of them by turns. He leaves Cordelia and curses her. The king of France offers his love to Cordelia and takes her as his wife. The wicked daughters conspire against their father. Goneril and Regan treat their father with complete disrespect. The two sisters refuse to accept King Lear. The old king is enraged and heart-broken. He walks out into the stormy night.

    In the meantime the discord between the two sisters and their kingdom erupts. In addition there is also news of an army from France slowly making its way to England. On the deserted health, the old and weak king boldly faces the storm. By this time he is already made and is brought to the refuge by the loyal Kent. He takes the king towards France where help and friends wait for them.

    In the meantime the army of France lands on the shores of England where Cordelia learns that her mad father is near the shore. She sends her man to search for the old king. She is soon brought in front of Cordelia. Tenderly, she brings him back to a semblance of sanity. The two sisters jointly advance to protect England against the invading French Army. In the battle that ensure, the French are defeated and Lear and Cordelia are taken to the prison. Meanwhile Cordelia is murdered. The broken- hearted king Lear is unable to see her innocent daughter’s death and he too dies in utter grief.
