Nouns used as Adjectives
একটি noun অন্য একটি noun - এর পূর্বে বসে তাকে বিশেষিত করলে, যেমন :
- This is a door mat.
- I attended a tea party last evening.
- She lost her money bag yesterday.
Uses of Adjectives :
1. Adjectives of Quality (গুণবাচক বিশেষণ) : Noun বা Pronoun এর দোষ, গুণ বা অবস্থা প্রকাশ করে । উদাহরণ:
good (ভাল) - Salim is a good boy. Salim is good.
এভাবে এ-ক্ষেত্রে lazy (অলস), weak (দূর্বল), clever (চালাক), intelligent (বুদ্ধিমান), bad (খারাপ) ইত্যাদি ব্যবহার করা যায় ।
honest (সৎ) - Father is an honest man. Father is honest.
এখানে gentle (ভদ্র), sincere (সরল), kind (দয়ালু) ইত্যাদি ব্যবহার করা যায় ।
old (পুরাতন) - This is an old house. This house is old.
এখানে good, new, ancient (প্রাচীন), abandoned (পরিত্যক্ত) ইত্যাদি ব্যবহার করা যায় ।
wide (প্রশস্ত) - The Meghna is a wide river. The Meghna is wide.
এখানে narrow (সরু), large, small, big ইত্যাদি ব্যবহার করা যায় ।
blue (নীল) - I have a blue pant. My pant is blue.
এখানে green, red, white, black ইত্যাদি ব্যবহার করা যায় ।
এখানে উল্লেখ্য যে, Adjective হতেই সাধারণত Abstract Noun গঠিত হয় ।

2. Adjectives of Quantity (পরিমাণবাচক বিশেষণ) : Noun বা Pronoun এর পরিমাণ বুঝায় ।
enough (যথেষ্ট) : We have enough sugar.
some (কিছু) : Give me some milk for tea.
little (নেই বললেই চলে) : I have little money to buy it.
3. Adjectives of Number (সংখ্যাবাচক) : Noun বা Pronoun এর সংখ্যা বুঝায় ।
One, two, three - I have three pencils. (definite)
first (প্রথম) - January is the first month of the year. (definite)
some (কিছু) - I have some sugar. (indefinite)
4. Pronominal Adjectives (সর্বনামবাচক বিশেষণ) : Possessive, Demonstrative, Interrogative এবং Distributive Adjective কে একত্রে Pronominal Adjective বলে ।
a) This is my pen. (Possessive Adjective) সম্বন্ধসূচক বিশেষণ ।
b) That boy is honest. (Demonstrative Adjective) নির্দেশবাচক বিশেষণ ।
c) What things do you sell? (Interrogative Adjective) প্রশ্নবাচক বিশেষণ ।
d) Each boy will get a prize. (Distributive Adjective) ভিন্নার্থক বিশেষণ ।
