6. Focusing adverbs
নিচের বাক্যগুলো লক্ষ্য কর:
1. The people of Bangladesh are mainly farmers.
2. He is only ten years old.
3. He is my brother, but he is also my friend.
4. I went there too.
5. I just came to see you.
উপরের mainly, only, also, too ইত্যাদি শব্দগুলো বাক্যের কোন একটি অংশকে নির্দেশ করছে কিংবা কোন একটি অংশের উপর জোর দিচ্ছে । এই ধরণের adverb-কে ইংরেজিতে focusing adverbs বলে ।
7. Adverbs of certainty
নিচের বাক্যগুলো লক্ষ্য কর:
1. It will probably rain this afternoon.
2. I certainly feel better now.
3. He is definitely taller than his father.
4. I went there too.
5. I just came to see you.
উপরের বাক্যগুলোতে আমরা কোন কিছু সম্পর্কে কতটুকু নিশ্চিত বলতে probably, certainly এবং definitely শব্দগুলো ব্যবহার করেছি । এ জাতীয় শব্দকে adverbs of certainty বলে ।
8. Connecting adverbs
নিচের বাক্যগুলো লক্ষ্য কর:
1. Anyway, I shall be here next morning.
2. I don't have time to read the book, besides it is not a good one.
3. He proposed me to do something; however, I did not agree to it.
4. The chairman wanted to talk to the members; then he will hold the meeting.
5. We should do it first; next, we shall see what can be done.
এখানে anyway, besides, however, then, next এই শব্দগুলো একটি clause-কে পূর্বে যা বলা হয়েছে তার সাথে যুক্ত করেছে । এই ধরণের সংযোগকারী শব্দকে connecting adverb বলা হয় ।
