Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a small country situated in south-east Asia. The total area of this country is only 1,47,570 square kilometers. This country is surrounded by India on the east, west, and north side, by Myanmar on the south east corner and by the Bay of Bengal on the south. Bangladesh got its independence through a great blood-shedding Liberation War in 1971.

Dhaka is the capital city of this country. This country has 160 million people. Most of the people of this country are Muslims and they constitute almost 85% of the total population. Hindus are the largest minority group. A considerable number of the Christians and the Buddhists also live here. Most of the people here speak in Bengali. Some tribal people also live here and they have their own languages. The common and conspicuous customs and traditions of the people in this country are humility, hospitality, fellow feelings and the observance of religious festivals with communal harmony. The people of this country are mostly plain minded, simple, sociable and deeply religious. They are respectful towards the seniors and elders and very loyal to family ties. The main tourist spots in Bangladesh are the largest sea beach of Cox's Bazar, Sonargaon-the capital city of ancient Bangla, the mangrove of the Sundarbans in Khulna, the Mahasthangarh and so on. The Padma, the Meghna and the Jamuna are the main rivers of this country. Paddy, jute, wheat, and tea are the main crops here.

Most of the people here live in villages and their main occupation is agriculture, fishing etc. The natural beauties and bounties are the main attraction of this country. I doubt whether there is any other country in the world which is as beautiful as Bangladesh. I feel very proud of my country.
