Games and Sports

    Games and sports are part and parcel of our education. They are called co-curricular activities. There are various types of sports such as cricket, football, badminton, volleyball, swimming, jumping, and running. Among them football, cricket, badminton and volleyball are very popular in our country.

    There is a saying that a sound mind lies in a sound body. We should have sound health to gain success in life. Sports and games help us to keep good health. They keep our body physically fit by circulating the blood of our body. They help us to develop our health and character. They teach us discipline, unity, team work, patience, courage, self-control and give us pleasure and recreation. They help us to forget our cares and anxieties and to get rid of monotony of our routine work. They create in us a competitive spirit which is a precondition of success in life. Again games and sports play a vital role in forming our personality and character. They teach us how to live in harmony and how to fight with opponents. Life becomes dull without games and sports. If we participate in games and sports regularly, it will relieve us from the fatigue and tension of our routine work. They are also a good source of pleasure.

    They help us much to develop our spirit of co-operation. When people of different nations get together on the occasion of an international sporting event, they come closer to each other. Then they forget their differences and become friends. They get a big chance to share their views, opinions and friendship. Thus, games and sports help us to strengthen international brotherhood
