The 99th birth anniversary of poet Jasimuddin,known as Palli Kabi, is being celebrated today, the first day of the New Year.
Different socio-cultural and political organizations have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.
In Faridpur, the home district of the poet, The Jasimudding Foundation has drawn up a number of programmes including milad mahfil, offering fateha, placing wreaths at the mazar of the poet at Gabindapur in the outskirts of the town.
A discussion meeting on the life and literacy works of the poet also held on the occasion.
