English is an International Language

    Write a summary of the following passage (Max 5-6 sentences ) .

    At present the importance of English has increased. Nowadays correspondence, communication, commerce, co-operation and other activities have increased. Different countries and nations have to communicate for these purpose. Interdependence among these counties is also increasing rapidly. For these reasons the necessity of English is increasing day by day.

    The English language has a cosmopolitan character. For this reason English has the strongest claim to be used as an international language. It is not only the language of the English people. But also the spoken daily by several hundred of millions in four continents. This language is found extensively used in different countries in Asia, and Africa. It is also the language of the USA. Nearly 260 million people speak in this language all over the world, whereas Russian, Spanish, German and French are spoken nearly 140 million people, 135 million people, 90 million people and 60  million people constitute about one – tenth of the population of the world.

    As a language, English has not merely cosmopolitanism in flexibility, but also universality in applicability. The influence of this language is dominant in the east as well as in the West ,English is taught as a compulsory subject in most of the schools in Europe, Asia and Africa. Many countries have taken it as a second language. In this way,  English has become the single inter communicating term of the world. The importance of the English language in the spread of civilization, of science and literature, is certainly immense and valuable.
